Event Description
The NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet & Forum is one of the organization’s major fundraisers and it is used as a means of helping to raise funds for scholarships, and other special projects. This year’s theme is “Justice or Just Us: A Call to Action to End the School to Prison Pipeline.” The featured guest speaker will be television personality, Judge Joe Brown. From 1990 until April 2000, Judge Brown served as a judge of the Shelby County Criminal Courts in Memphis, TN, where he introduced a new way of sentencing first time, and non-violent offenders.
The Freedom Fund Forum will be held from 1:00-3:30 pm and will include a panel discussing how we can end the school to printing pipeline. Panelist will include School Superintendent, Dr. Shelley Redinger, as well as representatives from law enforcement, and education. There will be a special appearance of Judge Joe Brown, however, the highlight will be his keynote address at the Banquet which begins at 7:00 pm. There will be a social hour (no host drinks) that begins at 6:00 pm. This is an event you don’t want to miss!
